2016 Stefano Lubiana Blanc de Blanc Tasmania – Stefano Lubiana Wines exude Tasmania in its purest form – from its soil to your family table. Their environmentally holistic practices and care for their low-cropping Derwent River estate follows through to the winery with minimal intervention meeting modern techniques. The resulting wines are world class quality, to be enjoyed with hearty food and good company.
The first vintage of this wine was the 2014 vintage, so this 2016 Blanc de Blancs marks the 3rd release. Like all Blanc de Blanc this cuvee is 100% Chardonnay. With 7 years on lees and over 12 months under cork pre-release.
Pale yellow in colour the wine has notes of lemon, honeysuckle and custard apple with an underlying toasty element which presents as butter pastries – freshly baked croissant, almond danish, and caramelised apple galette. The extensive time on lees has developed a toasty and mature palate with delicious notes of creme caramel, cre?me d’amande and apple tarte tatin. The finish is long, rich and delicatable with a supple mousse.
