Bunnamagoo means ‘the meeting of waters’ in the local Aboriginal dialect of the Wiradjuri people(*2,3).
A Quick Note on Fruit Harvesting Methods
Harvesting wine grapes is both an art form and a science. Choosing the precise day and time, harvesting method (and more) all affect the quality, juiciness, sweetness/tartness, and flavour of the bottled wine.
Vineyards either hand pick or machine harvest. There are pros and cons for each method. For example, hand-picking reduces the risk of the fruit skins being damaged while machine harvesting is far more efficient(*4).
Bunnamagoo Estate Wines: Dive into the Range of Reds and Whites Below!
The great variety of wines from Bunnamagoo Estate is made possible thanks to the geography of their two estates. The Bunnamagoo estate, located near Rockley in the Bathurst region of NSW sits at an altitude of 928m above sea level(*5). Combined with this high-altitude vineyard is Bunnamagoo’s estate in Mudgee(*6). Together, the two estates offer head winemaker, Robert Black ample varieties to work with and pristine growing conditions.
Did you know that Rockley, a National Trust Historic Village was one of the first settlements in the Bathurst region?(*7). The historic homestead you see on some of the Bunnamagoo labels is located at the Rockley estate(*8).
