2021 Mount Fishtail Pinot Noir Nelson – Quality is the absolute focus of Mount Fishtail wines and it starts in the vineyard. Here, no short cuts are taken in making a truly great wine, and this continues in the winery where ‘handcrafting’ is the applied standard.
Being a family-run business, control over quality is truly ‘hands on’. Through every day personal involvement, a focus on quality, and a commitment to wine lovers, makes this a labour of love.
The Pinot Noir grapes were harvested and fermented in small batch quantities; and hand plunged daily. The wine was left on the skins for 21 days post ferment and then drained to older French barriques for 8 months of barrel ageing before release.
A rich and ripe Pinot Noir displaying dark cherry, berry fruit and savoury characters. A generous concentrated palate exhibits well integrated fine tannins, and delivers a wonderful persistence of flavour.
